Starting next to the highest tower of Baltimore, the Transamerica Tower, the classic sets off in a south-eastern direction.
In Elkridge, the road turns southwest and heads for Odenton, where the roads turns another time in a more western direction to Annapolis. Here, the peloton crosses the Severn River, which could better be called a nice bay, near Annapolis. From here there remain eighty kilometres to the finish in Baltimore.
The next ten kilometres are going over a straight road. Then the road turns towards the bay shores, where the peloton will cross some nice bridges over beautiful bays, before returning close to the start/finish. However, the classic doesn't finish here, for the peloton has to ride 35 more kilometres through Baltimore. The finish will be after 140 kilometres at exactly the same place as the start was, which is next to the Transamerica Tower. Sprinters will need some technique here in Baltimore in the last few kilometres, with some sharp turns following each other quickly.
