The early route is along the docks and borders the river Avon as it heads out of town along the Portway running underneath the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge. The early part of the route is completely flat and will allow riders to gather some rhythm. Out of town, the route becomes slightly more technical but remains flat as the route winds its way through Severn Beach before looping back south and underneath the M5. As they head back towards the centre they will climb some short hills past the Blaise Castle Estate and Westbury village. The top riders today will still have some power to give in the short flat loop around Durdham Downs as the finish line looms overlooking Avon Gorge. For riders with something to celebrate a pint of local cider should do the job and for the others, a pint of local cider should also do the job.
