Starting from the Black Rock clock tower, the race heads south towards Mount Eliza along Beach Road. The bunch starts fast and hard, with wide roads on the exposed coastline sometimes forcing the bunch to form echelons to content with the crosswinds.
Through Frankston and the course hits Oliver's Hill, a short climb (600m at 6%) that most sprinters should be to get over due to its distance from the end. A small rolling loop through the Mt Eliza hills follows, with the bunch hitting the halfway mark of the race before descending Oliver’s Hill and charging back towards Black Rock.
The finish is a flat sprint often dangerous sprint favouring the faster riders. Who will be crowned winner of the Melbourne Mini (or Hell Ride as it’s known locally) this edition?
