Leaving Colombia’s second largest city; Medellín the peloton will almost immediately enter the Cordillera Central and the many mountains that lies ahead. Going south, the peloton will reach several steep climbs with dreadful average gradients. Team Mates will need to work tirelessly in order to keep the captain protected and ready to follow, what will ultimately become the leader group containing the candidates to win this race.
The finishing line in Los Nevados National Park lies on top on the foothills to the 5,300-meter high volcano “Nevado del Ruiz”. Since the finishing climb is fairly easy, certain riders may feel that an attack on the mountain before the finishing climb, would be the best approach.
