The race starts in Silkeborg, and after an undulating route through the hills of Middle-Jutland it returns to Silkeborg to finish on the main square. The route passes through a small village by the name of Mollerup which, like the race, was named in honour of The Beast. The route was designed by The Beast but was originally intended to have three laps of 222km to make the total 666km. The organisers cut that down to one lap because 666km would be "too cruel" to normal riders. Even with just one lap left the route was still hard enough to make The Beast the only possible winner of the first edition; his last win before retirement.
