Definitely one of the most desirable races in OCM for sprinters and their teams, together with that other sprinting classic, Helsinki GP. It’s also definitely one of the classics with most history melted into it: Starting in Norwich, passing Cambridge and finishing in London will guarantee fabulous views. It’s not a long classic with only 188 kilometer, but that won’t mean this classic is easy to win with all the best sprinters present.
After starting in front of Norwich Cathedral, the peloton will be led past all the beauty of Norwich, before leaving the city southwards. From here, many small, typical English towns will be passed by. Somewhere in between Norwich and London, the peloton will be led right through the centre of Cambridge, enjoying the fabulous sights of this historic city. However, they can’t stay too long, because from Cambridge, the finish in London is only 70 kilometers away.
Also in London, the peloton will pass by some of its iconic sights. After passing the Tower Bridge, Westminster Palace and the Big Ben, this classic will come to a heroic end on The Mall, where the last kilometer will be one long line heading to the finish in front of Buckingham Palace. After the very technical tour through the centre of London, it’s here where the world’s best sprinters will fight for one of the biggest wins in their career.
