“Our dear Cadman never got into arts at school. But he had to be first in whatever he did, from taking notes to writing essays or exams, it was something natural…” remembers Debbie Kantor-Taylor, Cadman's mother. After some failed attempts in football or tennis, young Cadman got hooked by triathlons. A short resume of his skills, slow runner (he was a bit “fat"); not good at swimming… and all his losses were vastly compensated for his riding abilities on the bike.
Such talent wouldn’t be ignored for long. Signing his first professional contract, Cadman Kantor made an impressive debut in OCM, and only took him one season to be crowned as the best rider of OCM and joining the Gold Generation of sprinters, with other big legends like Jan-Joost Dussel, Lean Ahnfeldt-Mollerup (who did not make any comment about Cadman), Melvyn Jégou and Tadaki Ko. He rode mainly in The Netherlands in his first years, claimed by the team’s sponsor; once transferred to Team Tirilla, he got other chances to perform in France, Finland and Germany.
As to any athlete, age doesn’t forgive and he assumed more roles of team mate and spotting opportunities of becoming a businessman after his retirement, which came in the form of a prestigious store in the UK, The Kantors; specialized in sports articles and musical equipment.
