Another week gone and another Breakaway for those who follow it. The big race in division three was this week and we have seen a great battle in Norway where Norway Tour was held and many climbers fought for victory. Wales was home to Cymru Taith in division two and there were classics in France, Norway and the United States of America. A great week for racing in various divisions.

   Norway Tour

We start with the biggest race of the week and the pinnacle in division three. Starting in the north with a prologue, Norway Tour slowly moves south to Oslo for its final showdown. Many timetrial specialists wanted to win this race and claim the first jersey but it was Mirel Matei, Designa Legends PPDB who was the fastest of them all. He could show his jersey on the flat stage to Bodø
but it was Bing Team who took the victory with Casper Nunemaker. The road to Monsjøen saw the first bumps of the tour but that did not matter for Casper Nunemaker as he gave Bing Team a second victory. Stage four was the first stage that gave a real challenge to the riders and by winning it, Custodio Damaso, sivac, reached for the victory. CCFC took some seconds back by winning stage five with Demian Kovalenko. The sprinters had their party at stage seven and it was Cycling and kebab who won with Asgeir Øien. Bergen had another time trial set out and it was Roar Brun, ACAB who surprised everybody by winning this one. Reginald Wescom, Team Stekke won the stage to Lillehammer but it was Dean Van Der Meer, Cycling team FPS who took the overall lead. Arriving in Oslo it was all down to the fastest riders on the flat and it was the Vietnamese rider Cao Huixiong, BrokenChain who claimed a great victory.

   Cymru Taith

Wales had their twentyseventh Cymru Taith and some big names joined to give it a shot. Some team who had earned their glory in Top division and some eager newcomers. All wanted some of the glory. And in Welspool they took off, attacking the hills and mountains of Wales. It was Yvon Martel, iheb pro team, who conquered the first jersey by winning the stage solo. With a great performance Foncho Reto, Abelixe, won the very important timetrial stage in Newport but it was not enough. The stage to Cardiff fell prey to big English sprinter Kyle Wyles but it was all in vain as Ratko Cicic gained enough for an overall victory with his third place on stage two.

Tour of Hawaii

Hawaii honoured its name with a cool breeze for the riders to cool of as they raced their race in the sun, cheered by many enthousiastic Hawaiians on suncovered roads on one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Hills and flat parts changed eachother as the riders neared the finishline and it was a race, unlike the intro, where only the strongest would prevail. And it was the rider from Japan who was the strongest around the hills as he created a little gap between him and the rest. A solo finish made his victory even more great. Raising his hands he looked back and saw a sprint behind him but they were too late, Nakashita Masamune beat everybody.

  1. Nakashita Masamune, Riftes Hobbysyklister
  2. Heinz Gleisenberg, Allgäu
  3. Albion Jarboe, Shelbourne FCCC

   Critérium la Grasse

The south of France had great weather unlike most of Europe and the riders lining up at the start did not mind that they had to race a classic in the Provence region. Everything better than Norway. And with the many mountains around Grasse it looked to be a great battle with so many good climbers. After a dull first part it was indeed a great race in the second part. Attacks from the peloton as riders tried to escape and arrive solo or in a small group happened all the time. Finally a select group managed to take some meters at the beginning of the last climb and slowly but certain extended the gap and arrived in the final meters of the race. It was going to be a sprint, if you can call it a sprint when it is uphill and the riders are very tired. But they tried and it was Ric Giomamarva who was the strongest, beating Edi Bacilieri and Malcom Waltz.

  1. Ric Giommarva, Siete Villas
  2. Edi Bacilieri, Herens Cycling
  3. Malcolm Waltz, Twente Cycling Team

   Bergen Rundtur

With division three having their tour in Norway many people might have forgotten about the Classic race around Bergen for Top division. The hills provided some nice climbs and fast downhills for the riders and the hillers were eager to make this a tough race. From the start many tried to breakaway and put some space between them and the peloton. Little groups of riders swarmed the Bergen roads and everybody raced against everybody. It was not tactical but it was great for the spectators, managers trying to scream some sense in the riders but the riders did not want to miss out and jumped again. In the end it was Avataria who could manage to get some sense in his riders and it resulted in a good finish for Geir Holter. A victory for a Norwegian rider in a Norwegian team in a Norwegian classic. A unicum.

  1. Geir Holter, Avataria
  2. Sam Duncan, Hells Grannies
  3. Ingar Vatne, Jonas Pro Cycling
