Åsane is connected to downtown Bergen by the E16/E39 highway. The E16 highway continues on through Åsane to the southeast to the neighbouring borough of Arna. Åsane lies on a peninsula surrounded by the Byfjorden, Salhusfjorden, and Sørfjorden. The 486-metre tall mountain Veten is located in the central part of the peninsula.

Åsane Grand Prix is a 235 km long race, with a circuit of 23.5km around the peninsula of Åsane. The race start and ends outside Åsane Storsenter. From here the race continues on the Hesthaugvegen to Salhus. The rider will enjoy the view of Byfjorden on there left. When they are in Salhus, its 8.3km since they left the start and finish line in Åsane. From Salhus they continue against Hylkje on Tellevikvegen and Hordavikvegen. From Steinestøvegen the riders have to make a right turn into E39 and Nordhorlandsvegen. Now its only 7.2km on E39 before they are back in Åsane. When they pass the finish line, they have to do the same circuit nine more times, before we have a winner.

The winner have to be a strong all round climber in this tough route. Most likely there will be a small group in the end, that will fight man against man. The best sprinter in the group will be the winner of Åsane Grand Prix.
