North West Cape ITT   

Held in conjunction with the North West Cape GP, the North West Cape TT is a short 21km race against the clock from the township of Exmouth to Lighthouse Bay in the north.

Held in conjunction with the North West Cape GP, the North West Cape TT is a short 21km race against the clock from the township of Exmouth to Lighthouse Bay in the north.

The intriguing sight of the shipwreck of SS Mildura can be seen from the shores of picturesque Lighthouse Bay, particularly at low tide. The former cattleship, used for carrying Kimberley cattle south, foundered on the reef during a cyclone in 1907 - fortunately no lives were lost in the incident. Most of the remains were salvaged and used for renovations while the hull sat forlornly on the reef until WWII when allied planes used it for bombing practice.

Leaving Exmouth, the course route takes us north along Murat Rd, before turning left onto Yardie creek rd. From here it’s a sharp right hand turn onto Mildura Wreck road Rd with the run to the line concluding at the Mildura Wreck foreshore.

The course is flat all the way through, with only some small technical elements to test the riders. One for the time trial specialists amongst the field, there shouldn’t be too many surprises with the occupants of the podium steps at the end of the day's racing.
