A break away will often form, but the winner will surely come from the chasing peloton on the fast circuit. Previous sprint stages have rewarded technically gifted or hilly sprinters, but this stage is all about top end speed and as such provides the most points for the sprint classification. The green jersey rider will know what is required at the finish, and the winners of the youth and general classification await their coronation. The flat, open and straight finish requires little finesse and rewards all out power. Here the tour finishes and riders will recall the end of a tough battle either reveling in glory or licking their wounds and looking forward to future opportunities.
