Leaving Morzine, the Peloton will need to pass the two 1st category climbs of Col de la Colombière and the Col des Saisies. Bringing plenty fatigue to the riders with steep ascents and technical downhills as only the best climbers will have what it takes before the “hors catégorie”, Col de la Madeleine bricks the final climb for the finishing line.
The Col de la Madeleine in the department of Savoie elevated 1,993 m above sea level is the perfect place for classical finish and the lead group will enter the mountain via the southern approach at La Chambre and climb the 19.05 km at an average gradient of no less than 8%. The winner on top can surely look upon himself with pride and be considered a “climbing specialist”, carving his name on the winner’s plate alongside former winners such as Ture Ivansson, Pascal Pârcalab and Landon Tolman.
