The speed of the race should pick up, and a breakaway is likely on the twisty bends, and undulating route. Just before reaching Chipping Norton, the route diverts towards Hook Norton and starts heading back to the finish in Banbury. The route back continues on flat roads, and the riders will need to pay attention for increases in speed by the peloton. A breakaway should get caught.
After passing Broughton Castle, the riders hit the old town of Banbury and the action will get fast and frantic with just over 10km until the finish of the race. The route goes around the outskirts, past numerous technical sections and will slowly get towards the centre. As they cross the 3km to go banner they will be right in the town centre and the sprinters will need to be in good position in the pack, with there leadout trains working hard. The technical finish is demanding, and heads straight to the famous Banbury Cross.
