Read moreThe fourth stage of the tour once again invites the General Classification contenders to attack the peloton. Leaving the small mountain town of Littleton, New Hampshire to head east towards Mount Washington.
The riders will once again take on the challenging hills and climbs of White Mountain National Forest. Mount Washington will loom in the distance as the riders warm their legs on the hills entering the national park. Once they reach the base of Mount Jefferson, the real battle will begin. Those with hopes of the GC will look to create time gaps large enough to survive the final two stages of the tour, while the time trial specialists and sprinters enjoy the scenery.
The finish on Mount Jefferson will top the highest point on any public highway in New Hampshire, Jefferson Notch. At 917 meters elevation it is the easiest ascent of any mountain in the Presidential Mountain Range hosted by the national forest. The difficulty will be provided by the powerful attacks against the peloton and for the strong men of the General Classification this stage will end in a brutal uphill sprint.
