Named after the famous syrup waffle that originated in Gouda and to honour its creator baker Kamphuysen, this race is an icon in Dutch cycling.
Already before the creation of the OCM league this race was a highlight for cyclists around Gouda.
As the riders follow the river Gouwe, passing small villages and ride through the meadows that are surrounding the city, the spectators are waiting for the bunch sprint at the finish line. The complete course is as flat as the waffle it is named for and every year the sprinters can battle for the victory.
The winner will receive the Kamphuysen trophy, a big glass object that resembles the Kamphuyser Stroopwafel.
