Starting in La Vall d'Uixó, the riders need to do a good warm up as the first mountain pass, the Alt del Marianet (3rd Category), comes as soon as kilometre 10. The Alt d'Eslida (2nd cat) follows in kilometre 20, and then they repeat the Pass d'Ain (2nd cat) featured on second stage in kilometre 34. The race then gets flatter and passes through the localities of Onda, Alcora, Borriol and Cabanes before starting climbing again. The final pass of Coll d'Ares (1st cat) and the definitive ascent to the city of Morella (3rd cat) will decide who's out of contention for GC. If there's one thing one can't forget from this stage is the fantastic look of the castle of Morella the first time it's visible through the mountains. Reaching it is a completely different matter.
