Dupnitsa hosts the start of the race and is located at the foot of the Rila Mountains. The riders will have an easy start since they won’t head directly into the mountains. The only hard part in the first section of the race will be the poorly maintained roads that might cause a flat tire. After a while the riders will face the first climb of today (3.1km, 15%). At the end of the climb is the first lake located ‘The lower lake’. When the riders have passed the lowest lake they will head to the ‘Fish lake’ and ‘The Trefoil. At this point the riders are 2200 meters above sea level. ‘The twin’ is the fourth lake the riders pass while they continue towards the highest lake ‘The Tear’ (2525 m). After this lake the riders get a well-deserved downhill towards the sixth lake ‘The Kidney’.
The final is hard. After the sixth lake the riders will face the 1200 meters long Sapareva Banya with an average grade of 18,1%. The Tour of the Rila Lake finishes at the seventh lake of the day, ‘The Eye’.
