Read moreGouda, known for its cheese, candles and beautiful city hall, hosts the start as well as the finish of this race. Already the first cobbled roads await in the old city center of Gouda. From there, the peloton will traverse the many green pastures and fields all the way to Leiden, where the oldest university of The Netherlands will be passed. In the old city center, another few very narrow and winding cobbled roads will have to be conquered.
Returning via Zoetermeer and Rotterdam, there will be some more short sections of cobbled roads and old, typical Dutch dikes, before returning to Gouda following the river the IJssel. Wind will probably have a big influence on the race here, because no trees are to be found on the dikes along the IJssel. Back in Gouda, the riders will finish on the cobbles right in front of the more than 500 years old city hall, where the winner will be honored on the big market square around the city hall.
