After going through Lecce also known as "the Florence of the South" the stage finishes in San Cataldo. The terrain is mostly flat, but the hills have a major role in deciding the stage winner, in fact it's imperative for hillers to gain has much time in this stage as possible if they plan to win the general classification and add a jersey to their palmarès.
