The second stage of the Italian tour starts from San Cataldo shoreline. After leaving the seaside town the riders will head towards Lecce. Here they will ride past two iconic churches: the Church of the Holy Cross and the Cathedral in Piazza del Duomo. Read moreThe second stage of the Italian tour starts from San Cataldo shoreline. After leaving the seaside town the riders will head towards Lecce. Here they will ride past two iconic churches: the Church of the Holy Cross and the Cathedral in Piazza del Duomo. The route then head's back towards San Cataldo where the riders will finally have the sea in sight again after leaving it behind them at the start of the race. The finishing line is located just after the pine tree forest.
The terrain is mostly flat, and since it includes many straight streches it doesn't require much technique.
This timetrial is not the king stage by chance, it is usually here that the Jersey is lost or won by the best riders.
Time differences for this stage can be huge and an off day here could be decisive.
