From the square the riders follow the Via Etnea, the main street of Catania. The finish line is drawn adjacent to Gioeni parc. That’s where the clock stops ticking and the first general classification will be made up.
The prologue is regarded as the King stage of the Giro di Sicilia. It’s short in distance but of great importance. It will predominantly be won by a sprinting timetrialist. Contenders for the general classification cannot afford to lose time here, since every second counts in this sprinting tour.
