The race starts in Timis county, near the small town Deta, in a plain area. This area is an example of proper integration of people with multiple nationalities, as it includes Romanian, Hungarian, Serbian, Bulgarian, Slovak, German and Croat populations that have lived for a long time in peace.
The course goes north to Voiteg and then heads straight east to the small towns Gataia and Bocsa. The last 20 km from Bocsa to Resita are the most difficult, with the route following the narrow Barzava valley some small hills. The best is left for the finish, organized in the highest streets of Resita town, after a short but sharp climb that the sprinters will hate. 250 m difference of altitude may not seem much, but they are enough for the race to be enjoyed only by the best climbers in Division 8.
