This parish is well known for the heavy fights in this area in WWII. But now it's the start of another beautifull race in OCM.
Right after the start, the first bridge arrives. Bridges are the best spots were break aways could happen. But after only 5 km, it might be to early for a break away. Now the route takes the riders to the east, Bel. The forests of Bel are well known in this area. In these woods, riders are protected from the wind, so wind breakers could have some rest.
After Bel, the riders have to go all to the south, to the parishes Oosterlo and Zammel. The riders have to cross two bridges. One to cross the canal, and one for the higway. When the riders start heading to the west of Geel, they will have to cross these bridges once again. If any team wants to win with a break away, it will have to happen here.
When no team managed to get away, the last kilometer will decide it all. Sprint trains are being set up, and the pace is very high now. The final road is just one straight road to the finish. Only the roundabout around 300 metres before the the finish line demands some technique. From this point everything will be decided by fastest rider in the peloton. No excuses could be used here.
