Torres Vedras is a special place for Portuguese cycling and the region around it is perfect for exciting cycling racing.
Leaving Torres Vedras, the riders immediately attack the Serra d'Aire roads with many hard and short climbs, a great place to launch the day's Breakaway. The first pave roads are located after the climb. It's up and down until Ourém where the cyclists have the opportunity to see the ruins of the old Castle before heading to the Mosteiro da Batalha. This is one of the longest flat road parts of the stage, around 25 km with a 7 km pave part in between. After passing Batalha, the riders climb the Vila Grande, a 7 km climb at 6% is not too hard, but enough to put some riders with tired legs behind. After this last challenge, the riders hit Alcobaça with 25 km to go. From those 25 km, 10 are on paved and old roads where the final attack should be launched. When the riders reach the Port of Nazaré, the have only 2 km until the finishing line.
