The Route along the coastline between Arles and Marseille is almost flat, but with just 20 km to the finishing line, the riders will have to tackle some small climbs in order to reach the city of Marseille. The hill "Tête d'Auguste" is the first and probably the hardest one. After that one the riders tackle 3 other smaller hills before entering the city centre. Any puncheur with the idea of winning the stage alone needs to use these ramps to get away from the peloton. Others might put their team working hard on the front to distance the pure sprinters.
The final kilometres aren't extremely technical, and the riders will have some wide roads until the final kilometre. One the final kilometre, the riders will have 1 roundabout before 2 90 degrees turns with the final one just 500 meters from the finishing line.
