Volta:
The early season objective was to enter and compete in Volta ao Porto.
Arnold Latey was joined by his full compliment of climbing team mates and in fact the same team as last year, with the exception of Zimisile Potterill who stayed with the hiller squad and was replaced by Giovanni Kimmel - a recent signing and valuable windbreaker.
Despite some initial bad luck, including 4 off days and a crash injuring Kevin Pluhar on the first climbing stage the team, Arnold Latey performed well and secured a 4th place and two wins on the climbs. Placed 2nd in GC before the final time trial, Latey had high hopes of a podium in GC but as was the case last year this was lost after a poor final time trial, demoting Arnold to 6th.
Latey's good climbing form has continued with two second places since the tour at Clásica Guayaquil and Ajaccio - Bastia. This may be Anrold Latey's last attempt at Volta ao Porto as the team's realisation that however good a climber he is, he will be made to pay in time trials.
Heidel, Loch and the Hillers:
Loch's season has got off to a good start with one victory and one 3rd place and Heidel's first race as leader also secured his first victory.
Heidel's training stalled with a lack of funds and will continue after his next race. Heidel and Loch are happy to share the captaincy duties at present, but how long this will continue for we do not know...
I plan to train Heidel's climbing to 74 then work on his maxing his downhill (average) before maxing climbing (very good) and then, if still unmaxed overall, maxing his flat road (good). If he gets that far I will be likely have a new tour rider on my hands! Any opinions on this order are welcome!

Cripes, he's still sweaty from his last training session!
Once he's won the Vuelta and has celebrated his 30th birthday I'll think about it. ;-)
haha had to try :P
(Come on Oliver, just let the boy return!) ;)
Don't listen to him Oliver!
Ryant, you abandoned him and his home is at Rotational Symmetry now! ;-)
maybe so, but returning him home would be priceless ;P
I'll offer 250001$ ;-)
Seriously, I would say that he's worth 500-600k at the least....
so thats a deal? great! ;)
Let me TT centre him first! ;-)
Meh, great to see his progress, maybe shouldn't have sold him for the 100k+ I got for him...
Would you be interested in selling him back? Maybe 250k is good enough for you? :P
If you don't aim high, then you'll never reach the top level!
He might even get 8 races a season with the National Team if we ever get back into CoN....
Yes, very similar. He is looking well suited for Vuelta, Criterium la Provence and maybe even Germany if I can get up there. A spot more CL, 10 more DH and perhaps even a bit more FR would be great but I expect I'm wishing for too much!!
Ola Skar!
But Heidal is already better!
New great tour rider alert!
He looks a lot like Team Unibet climber.... can't remember his name though...
Maybe Olar, or Okar....
Heidel is still not maxed!
:-)
Great young team on the rise!
Thank you. You aren't doing too badly yourself! ;-)
gratz Oliver you are doing very well!
good luck :D
