Team Perutnina Ptuj is slowly but surely going back where they belong - in 8th division. After just two weeks we visited them again.
Johan: 8th division is the strongest division. It's obvious. There are plenty of races, classics, big amount of teams and relatively big prizes. That's why we are going back. We competed in Switzerland recently and Pelgrims was actually 3rd in mass sprint. This is unacceptable and surely cannot happen in 8th division. Only the strongest men have chance there. And after Wit's departure, our team is full of strong men. Wit was a destroying factor with his poor attitude. However, we are pleased that he left us with 3rd place in Switzerland.
At least money is not a problem anymore, right?
Johan: Well, situation isn't as good as it seems. We will have to sell Attila to survive. You know, our president have some strange habits. When he bought a new car, he sold all equipment that we had. Now he is buying a new house...
To conclude, what are team's goals at the moment?
Johan: We will try to get some races in warmer places. Here in Slovenia conditions are not ideal for training. We would love to go to Australia, South Asia or Tenerife, but at the end we will probably go to Croatia. We'll be there until March, then we'll win some strong races in 8th division, come back stronger than ever and do what Pelgrims couldn't - win Monte Rosa Tour. On the other hand, roads in Croatia are very slippery, food is very good and night clubs are great. So only time will tell what's going to happen.
