Fast on Wheels domination as Soisalo ends GC wait

Written by Dodge at 15:30 14/7-2024

It was a long time coming, but Dodge Cycling Team finally added tour jerseys to the team's palmares at the 50th edition of Fast on Wheels.

A devastating 1-2 punch from Leo Soisalo and Wilfried Arends saw them occupy the top two spots on the podium in Copenhagen, with the latter also winning the Youth Classification.

It was a wildly successful tour for the Australian outfit with Ruggero Imbrignbio winning Stage 5 and GC winner Soisalo finishing in the top 10 on every stage but one.

The Finnish timetrial specialist has been touted as one to watch in recent years but finally made good on his promise by finishing more than a minute ahead of Arends and Glasgow United's Rory Walkinshaw.

Youngster Arends impressed too with his timetrial abilities and will shortly be heading for the U23 World Championships in the Netherlands, hoping to improve on his second placed finish last year.
