Ten Curiosities About Iranman

Written by Amstel Flanders at 06:57 13/7-2024

The day is closer. Manager Williamson released the line up for the last races of the team, confirming the sign up to Coppa della Famiglia del Don, the last race of Sam Azargoshasp. Both rider and manager avoided making comments, though excitement and anxiety could be sense in their faces.

Legends must retire in the best scenarios and this is the best race the team could join. Before that happens, we'd like to share with y’all ten curious facts you didn’t know about Iranman.

  Did you know that…

#1- …his name is Samuel and was born in the US? Yes, Sam lived in St. Petersbourg, FL; until he was 4 years old, when his family returned to Iran.

#2- …he was our first ever scouted rider from the Hire List? After we realized our starting talents were not so good, we opened the market tab where we spotted a SP-born Iranian talent in the second place of the front page.

#3- …Sam’s first role was as water carrier? In his cycling debut in Norway back on S56, a 24 years old Iranian rider did a decent job dropping to the team car and riding back to the peloton, besides finishing 89th out of 90 participants, our team scored a result.

#4- …he’s the most successful Iranian rider of all times? Absolutely, 19 wins can speak for him.

#5- …Shahram, his brother; had better potential as sprinter? That is true. The elder Azargoshasp had a 210+ potential, against 200+ from Iranman. Yet, Sam did train all he could.

#6- …Sam holds the WR for the fastest ascend to Mt. Everest? What better climbers couldn’t achieve, wasn’t impossible for Iranman. At the spring of S59 Azargoshasp crowned the highest summit, setting an unbeatable time for any weak climber.

#7- …despite being Iranian, his best friend is Israeli? When Boris Bitao joined the team, everyone thought the harmony would vanish. On the contrary, not only they helped each other on the road, Sam and Boris always spend their vacations at the same chalet they rent in Mallorca with their families.

#8- …Iranman only cried once, when he beat all-time overall score of Farbod Samii? Although Sam had way more complete palmares and results, he missed the scoring department to beat Farbod as the best sprinter of Iran. When Iranman got enough points, he leaned on his handlebar and cried out of emotion; after beating the rider that inspired him.

#9- …he had a cameo on a movie? Yes, Sam appeared once as a bike delivery guy on the famous Iranian film “Hassan Goes To Mecca”. The audience in every teather in the country roared and rejoice when they recognized their famous athlete.

#10- …he used to race listening to music? A hobby that costed the team some results and more than frustration to Manager Williamson.

  Over n' Out.

Nice! now i want to watch "Hassan goes to mecca" and keep my eyes peeled to catch him.

Amstel Flanders at 09:09 15/7-2024
He is retiring. Didn't sell him for 1M in his prime, no logic to put him for sale when he is 6 days to retire hehe.

team dustin at 08:53 15/7-2024
I thought so, but also try :)

Amstel Flanders at 08:41 15/7-2024
  Of course not.

team dustin at 08:12 15/7-2024
  Is he for sale?

Amstel Flanders at 08:41 13/7-2024
Might be off day or just distraction from talking to rivals about the newest hit on radio hehehe.

Holwerda Cycling at 08:38 13/7-2024
Is that what an off day is? Listening to music?
Have a nice goodbye for the best sprinter of Iran!
