S67 review

Written by Spliff cycling at 11:43 23/1-2024

As a subject for our first press release, S67 was a transitional season. Spliff cycling had purchased 3 talents from Youri's Super Teams Scouting Service at the end of S66 and hired one talent from the hirelist and spend essentially most of the season training those 4 in addition to the usual racing.

The team finished just outside of Div 1 which is probably reflecting the current strength of Spliff Cycling.

  Training review:

Flavio Colafacio (de Faciis) was the most expensive rider purchased for 130K but maxed the lowest as a pure pave pacer.

Angus Leinpinsel came in as a 200+ SP talent on the technical side and maxed pretty much there as a 215 Sprinter. He will probably replace Vic Van Clijnebreugel as LO2 and captain for technical sprint races.

Diangi da Costa came in as a 200+ TT talent and also maxed after achieving his core stats as a 214 TT rider. He also had a couple of results this season and will be part of the TT rotation for the next 10 years or so.

Bendik Nordbø was hired from the hirelist as a potential LO1 but maxed fairly early. He might still stick around as a LO1 until someone better comes around.

  Racing review:

Most of our results this year were again provided by the TT Team which accumulated 156K in price money. We're still probably to weak to compete with the Div 1 TT power teams but are able to accumulate results regularly in Div 2 at least. Goal for next year is to find a replacement for team legend Danny deSmedt who is ready to retire after leading the team from div 9 to div 1 as our best rider.

The sprint team managed to earn 51K this year. Management managed to screw up a number of TFs which is an issue when the team is only competitive at div 2 level when using TFs properly.

The cobble team was a disappointment and collected many, many 10th and 11th places between both Captains (Napier and Wibier). Now that we have 7 cobblers we'll also try to use TF to get them in better positions going forward.

Goals for next seasons are to save some cash to purchase the new Golden Hour frames and scout for a long-term replacement for Danny deSmedt in the TT team. Also, better results of the Cobblers would be nice.

All in all, i'm still amazed to have made it this far but slowly getting used to having a team not good enough for div 1 but able to score regularly enough in div 2 to get promoted from time to time.
