S66 Review

  Review S66

Four new palmares, including the most prestigious thing in the game (Germany Germany Tour GC), were obtained! Ten wins, third in the pointsranking, and some promising new faces in the team. There is a lot to celebrate! Yet, our points goal of 5200 points wasn't achieved. We even scored slightly less points than last season. Keeping Silenzio hungry to improve.

Gus Bailey set a new individual points record in one season for Silenzio. Despite being at rest mid-season, he made it to 1150 points, recording three wins. His big goal was to win Norwich-London this season, but multiple riders were too strong. Gus was disappointed 4th and might set his eyes elsewhere again. His good amount of wins and results though was more than enough to claim the Australia Australian jersey for the second time in his career.

Maurycy Piekarski was eager to get more captaincies after a dry spell in S65. Management decided Maurycy could ride the Cup of his great idol Patryk Drozdowski. Alas, Maurycy received an injury in the preparations for the cup. When Koenraad Deuring appeared not to be in sufficient race shape to target Germany Tour, Maurycy took the opportunity to lead the team. Overjoyed he won the damn thing. Maurycy, may we never doubt you again! Btw, his replacement in PD Cup, Théodore Guilloux, largely disappointed. His time will come.

After three failed attempts by Reynardo Ceballos to win a third Colombia Copa Salsa de Cali, Rajnay Bela received the opportunity to target the cup. The logic was that the second stage would suit Rajnays profile better and that he could well limit the damage from other competitors in the other two stages. Well, he won both of the stages but disappointed in the stage it was all about, wher he ended 5th. In the pointstie for the win with Kai Gren (PEKAC B), the OCM gods decided to hand out a Cup to both. That ended a dry period of 5 seasons for the sprinting team. After the failed attempt of Gus in London, and the missed signup in Vuelta de los Castillas, a most needed one. For Rajnay, it was his 5th big prize to add to the team (2x Mito-Tokyo, 1x Nederlandse GC, 1x Kangaroo YC, 1x Copa Salsa), but his first on the highest level of competition.

Stephan Osberg was bought three seasons ago to be our guy in the climb classic of France Alpe d`Huez Classic and Zurich-Bern-Zurich. Well, he delivered!! After winning Zurich in S65, he now won Alpe! Very efficient.

Sima Ervin left the team without having the opportunity to battle one last time for the SC in Vuelta de los Castillas. To make space for new sprintfaces in the team Pusztai Aladár and Bernard Wakit, Sima left to team futerko and Elmar Deimek (one of the best riders we ever trained) left for Alpine. We also said goodbye to Maximilien Esteves who left for CC Thonon to make place for a cobblecaptain. Thijs Bouwens retired, and replaced Kelvin Bekooy as sprinttrainer for the team. Two other trainers left the squad by the way: Ogilvie Driver and Quentin Fay. Both were replaced for their FR/HL training by Villy Bjerre.

Ábrahám Vilmos became the third Hungarian rider of Silenzio to claim the Hungary Hungarian jersey, and replaces Tijmen Van Lieshout in the all time top5 of Silenzio. Despite his consistency in the cobbleraces, next season he will be replaced by huge signing Garibaldo Moura (1M from mutants madrid). The Portuguese cobble-youth will captain in most of the cobbleraces. We predict a great future for him, also considering the strenght of our current setup with five more than decent pave pacers. After a season of 2nd in Roubaix (Vilmos), 4th in TvA (Vilmos), 5th in Astana (Grant Simoni) we now might have a cobbleteam that actually wins something?

Young Kent De Meulder claimed the Taiwan Taiwan Black Bear Tour YC again and will get the chance to do a triple of them in S67. This time however he might show up a bit tired after an attempt in the World Championship in S66, where he ended on a respectable 3rd place.

For S67 we target to get closer to the 5000 points end of season and to be competitive in the big races again.
