Che Weijun makes his dream come true

The many climbs on Stage 1 (Copa de la Historia de los Andes) didn't give any good ideas for the riders. No riders attacked the entire stage through. When the final climb was near, the strongest riders settled themselves in front of the peloton. Sicco took a confident lead, supporting Che Weijun. The devistating tempo set by Sicco crushed rider by rider. When Che Weijun ran out of supporting riders, he had only 3 other competitors to beat. One of them, Bernt Van Leempoel (Zakisu Pirtina), launched a quick attack and managed to sit a lone in front for a short time. He only had Che Weijun and Reynaldo Batistuta (Leseturs) behind him now. Bernt Van Leempoel could not keep the tempo high, and eventually, both Che Weijun and Reynaldo Batistuta passed him by.
Reynaldo Batistuta launched the sprint, but Che Weijun outrunned him and became the winner.
I'm still in shock. When the attack started earlier today, I didn't expect to end up as winner, said the happy Sicco rider, Che Weijun. Only at the very end, I realized that this could be my chance, and so it was.
The manager of Sicco was proud of his rider today. Che Weijun has been training and preparing himself for this race. It's an important victory - both for Che Weijun but also for the team.
