After the intense tour-minded period of the last 12 days, which means 3 tour participations, it is time to make a balance of what took place.
Purely based on GC positions this was a succesful period;
Cymru GC win for Cicic
6th in Vuelta GC for Ernesto
5th in Essex GC
Management feels that Cicic performed slighty above expectations in both Cymru and Essex, and is pleased to add a 2nd tour win to its palmares. Cicic showed there is some fight left in the old dog.
Ernesto got a place around what was expected, 6th.
Rather dissapointingly though is the fact that in all these stages only 1 stage-podium was scored, which means that all in all not that many points were won, resulting in the fact that the team finds itself on a rather dissapointing 45th place in the ranking. Especially with Germany Tour around the corner this can be seen as a problem. The management would love another shot at GC after last years failure, however a spot in the top-30 is needed in order to sign up. It is highly questionable if such a ranking can be achieved in such a short amount of time. If we do succeed is signing up Lovvorn (GC) and/or Dawud (GC/SC) will captain the team.
In other news, QSM intends to continu rejuvenating the squad, but unfortunately the market is expierincing a time of low conjuncture and there are not many trained young riders available. (except Cobblers, but we hate those)
As for assessment of the captains, team-management is very satisfied with Repse's performances, Dawud is doing okay as well, but Shuba has showed his best times are behind him. However with only 2 captains who are able to score (maybe we should let Drain or Ernesto captain a coule of races to see how they do) with a team as big as ours, we are in desperate need of a new captain and we are thus exploring the market for either a sprinter or a climber. (preferable a sprinter)
