Having added 29 year old Dominic du Moor to our squad, the team was set to attack the Belgian one day race, Kinderkojes Koers. Still looking for our first win, and just our second result of the season, hopes were not particularly high.
However, in the wet weather, the cobbles played havoc with the peloton. The big sprinters were soon dropped and punctures and crashes were numerous. Svalbard Trek kept Hernando Panfilo in the leading group the entire race. With just 16 riders in the leading pack as they approached the finish, hopes were high that one of the three Trek riders could snatch the win. Sure enough, after a powerful lead out, Panfilo crossed the line first. We hope this is the first of many.
In transfer news, Sandjis Semerjaks seems destined to retire at the end of the season and the team will also be looking for long term replacements for Porras and du Moor
