After more than 3 months of silence, it's time for an update from everyone's favourite team! (yes, we're talking about ourselves here)
Today was the official return for Quick Step Minded to the highest level of cycling, a competitive race in topdivision, against the best teams this game has to offer, +- 15 months after our last race in this division.
And our captain Laszlo Jéger made this glorious day even better by getting a 9th place in Palm Bay - Miami which sees him overtake the infamous Garami Gedeon as nr.1 in the Hungarian Rider Rankings.
For those who read my previous PR this won't come as a surprise, knowing that Jeger still keeps his top-9 streak going and so far this season he has already 11 top-9 placings under his belt , making him a very reliable captain for our team.
The result today also meant that the team got to nr.38 in the OCM Ranking, an achievement that wasn't planned before the season started as we were perfectly happy in division 2. It's worth noting that the team got this far with 2.1million $ in the bank-account. When the team got sold over a year ago, we accumulated over 3 million $. For the mathematical geeks among you this means that we assembled our current team (starting from 9 jobbers) and got from div 10 all the way to div1 by spending 'only' 1 million in cash.
But topdivision, do not fear, as this triumphantic return will only be short-lived. and by tomorrow we will be back were we belong for the time being, Zyte Division.
The manager feels our current squad could be competitive in topdivision, but only just. Also taking in mind some of our riders are nearing retirement age, the team feels it would be better to further develop as a team in Zyte Division for the next few seasons.
When meeting up with the local press today QSM, the team-manager seemed rather tired and wasn't very outspoken, but 1 journalist however did get this quote from him: "This proves once again how good of a manager I actually am, and that's a #FACT #DEAL_WITH_IT", which some described as a rather narcistic comment. But QSM added: "that was was for all the haters out there!", whatever that means.
Anyways, this is it for the time being, tune in for the next press-release if this one doesn't quite satisfy your needs just yet.
